Swiss Federal Railways (SBB-CFF-FFS) clocked a historic punctuality rate of 94.1% in 2025, with trains arriving on the nail (less than three minutes late). This marked an uptick from 93.2% in 2024, despite a barrage of engineering possessions, mega-events, and testing conditions. The standout day was 28 December 2025, the most punctual in the operator’s history at 98.6% bang on time.
SBB credits staff dedication, rock-solid rolling stock reliability, and a mild autumn for the triumph. Passenger satisfaction held firm, especially on connections, dipping just a tad to 98.6%.
Regionally, Ticino took a slight knock to 92.1% from Italian late-runners, Lugano-area works, and freight diversions via the Gotthard Base Tunnel. Romandie, meanwhile, surged to 93.4% on the back of the beefed-up 2025 timetable boosting network resilience.
Freight ops at SBB Cargo Suisse also gained traction, hitting 90.2% punctuality—up two points on 2024—thanks to operational tweaks at Lausanne yard. International workings remain the big headache.
