The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has issued yesterday a resolution eliminating the minimum services for Renfe, despite the fact that the CGT and SF unions maintain the strike call in the railway sector.
The decision, signed by the Secretary of State José Antonio Santano, responds to Renfe’s proposal following the agreement reached with the majority unions SEMAF, UGT and CCOO.
It is argued that it is not necessary to guarantee essential transport services, thus modifying the initial resolution of 5 February 2026. Ouigo and Iryo do maintain their minimum services active.
Workers affiliated to the unions that are maintaining the call speak of neglect and exclusion, as they have not participated in the negotiations. Transportes insists that they have not excluded anyone.
CGT and SF maintain the strike on 9, 10 and 11 February due to the degradation of railway safety, aggravated by recent accidents in Adamuz (Córdoba) and Gélida (Barcelona).
They denounce cuts in maintenance, massive outsourcing, precariousness in private companies and lack of sufficient staff. They consider the agreements reached with the other unions to be insufficient as a “patch” without structural changes.
While CCOO, UGT and SEMAF have called off their part of the strike, CGT and SF demand a new model with real investment in safety over profitability.
