Stadler has signed a contract with the Office of the Marshal of the Greater Poland Voivodeship to deliver up to 20 electric FLIRT trains for Koleje Wielkopolskie’s (KW) regional and suburban services.
The agreement, worth around €263 million, covers an initial batch of ten five-car trains, with an option for a further ten units. The first sets are expected to enter service in early 2028.
The new trains, to be built at Stadler’s Polish plant in Siedlce, will offer enhanced passenger comfort, reduced energy consumption, and lower operating costs. Each unit will reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h and carry up to 632 passengers, including more than 250 seated.
They will feature full accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, CCTV, passenger information systems, and safety equipment such as defibrillators. The design work will take place in Poznań, where Stadler has a team of one hundred engineers and plans to hire twenty more this year.
