The Minister of Transport, Óscar Puente, and the presidents of Adif and Renfe, Pedro Marco de la Peña and Álvaro Fernández Heredia, have asked to appear in Congress to report on the Adamuz railway accident.

Vox was the first party to request the hearings. It did so on Monday 19, the day after the accident. Junts joined the following day as a result of the derailments in Rodalies and, finally, the PP requested it yesterday.

The requests were registered yesterday and reflect, according to ministerial sources, Puente’s commitment to transparency before the citizens and their representatives. The minister will appear before the Plenary Session of Congress, while the heads of Adif and Renfe will appear before the Transport and Sustainable Mobility Commission.

The hearings are expected to take place in February, once Congress resumes its activity, with the first ordinary plenary session scheduled for the week of the 9th. However, the statements will be subject to the limits of the technical and judicial investigations, so as not to interfere in their development or in the investigation of the facts.

Yesterday afternoon, Puente and two officials from Adif and Renfe held a press conference at the Ministry in which the minister insisted on transparency and that neither he nor his team are hiding.
