Renfe Proyectos Internacionales and the Japanese Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central) have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to strengthen their collaboration in the technical, operational, and strategic fields and to strengthen their international presence in the high-speed railway sector.
The agreement establishes a common framework for regular exchanges of information and personnel in key areas such as railway research and development (R&D), operation and maintenance of high-speed and conventional lines, and joint exploration of opportunities in international markets.
Thus, both companies seek to share best practices and consolidate their railway know-how, establishing a long-term relationship focused on projects of mutual interest.

With 3,973 kilometres in operation, Spain has the second most extensive high-speed network in the world, only behind China and ahead of Japan. This position, together with Renfe’s experience and JR Central’s technology, makes both companies world leaders and reinforces the global projection of the Spanish railway model.
With this alliance, Renfe takes another step forward in its internationalisation strategy, which has recently suffered some setbacks and lowered expectations.
