Adif AV calls for tenders for ultrasonic auscultation and profiling of high-speed track equipment

For 5.2 million euros, Adif tenders a contract for preventive maintenance of HSL switches and crossings, which will prevent derailments like the one in 2017. In addition, it tenders the profiling of the new switches and crossings.

Adif has awarded contracts worth a total of €7.2 million for ultrasonic inspection and rail turnout profiling across Spain’s high-speed rail network. The initiative aims to reinforce preventive maintenance, extend the lifespan of track components, and enhance reliability and passenger comfort.

The €5.2 million ultrasonic inspection contract will detect internal flaws in turnouts, crossovers, and expansion devices using high-resolution ultrasonic equipment and GPS-based positioning. The data gathered will inform future maintenance programmes and ensure infrastructure reliability on standard-gauge lines already in operation.

Meanwhile, the €2 million profiling contract will optimise wheel–rail interaction on turnouts along high-speed lines under construction, preparing them for entry into service. Works will take place on sections including Murcia–Almería, Talayuela–Plasencia, and the Antequera–Granada high-speed route, among others.

Through this investment, Adif continues to advance the development of a safer, more sustainable high-speed network, contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 9 on resilient, reliable, and high-quality infrastructure.
