The transport authority’s board chairman, Eetu Kinnunen, stressed that it is the most suitable model for the demanding conditions in Helsinki. Ansgar Brockmeyer, vice-president of Stadler, said that passengers will enjoy a modern and sustainable tram.
The Tango Nordic will replace the iconic Valmet vehicles of the 1970s and 1980s, and will be part of the new tram lines under construction, with a design developed together with the Aivan studio to blend harmoniously into the urban landscape of the Finnish capital.
