Renfe Ingeniería y Mantenimiento has begun construction work on the new maintenance base in Aranjuez. It will require an investment of more than 69 million euros, of which 6.2 million euros will be used for industrial equipment.
The project’s execution period is 10 months. During this period, the demolition, excavation, and urbanisation of the site will be completed, as well as the construction of the main building.
The new workshop will be directly connected to Adif’s line 300 and the C-3 of Cercanías Madrid, facilitating the entry and exit of trains on this line for maintenance.
The facilities will have three 200-metre maintenance stations, stabling and operational tracks for 10 200-metre trainsets and two tracks for 100-metre trains, a winch track, a dedicated washing track, and an additional track for loading and unloading.
The equipment will include lifting gear, low lifts, low bogies, purification systems and waste emptying points.
The centre will allow first-level preventive and corrective maintenance tasks to be carried out. Preventive operations will cover safety inspections, technical cleaning and scheduled overhauls based on mileage or age, while corrective operations will address breakdowns, technical incidents and vandalism damage.
