Alstom, in partnership with Rowad Modern Engineering and Concrete Plus, has signed four contracts with Egyptian National Railways (ENR) valued at approximately €690m to upgrade strategic rail corridors across Egypt. Alstom’s share is around €300m.

The flagship scheme on the 6th of October–Alexandria corridor, worth €550m, includes deployment of state-of-the-art digital signalling, telecoms systems, power supply reinforcement, and comprehensive track and infrastructure renewal. Journey times are expected to be cut by up to 80 minutes, alongside gains in capacity, safety, and reliability.

A second corridor, the Belbes–10th of Ramadan (B10) line, with a budget of roughly €140m, will strengthen connectivity to one of the country’s प्रमुख industrial hubs, supporting modal shift and freight growth.

Alstom will deliver engineering, procurement, and commissioning (EPC), including ETCS Level 1 signalling and advanced real-time traffic management systems. Local partners will undertake civil works and technical buildings.

Aligned with Egypt Vision 2030, the schemes aim to optimise logistics flows between dry ports, industrial zones, and maritime gateways, with a local content target of 50%.
