Renfe has announced that it will launch the A Punto plan in May — a programme of rapid interventions aimed at improving the condition of Cercanías and metre-gauge stations, as well as enhancing the overall passenger experience.
The initiative involves a total investment of €24.8 million and will be implemented during 2026 and 2027. Each project will have a cost ranging between €100,000 and €300,000, with an expected 12 to 18 interventions per region. Although the stations are owned by Adif, those used exclusively by Cercanías services are managed by Renfe as the sole operator.
The framework agreement has been divided into seven geographical lots, with Madrid and Barcelona earmarked as the areas receiving the largest budgets (€4.8 million each). The remaining funds will be distributed across Andalusia, the Eastern Zone, the Basque Country, Asturias and Cantabria, and Galicia along with the North-West Zone.

The plan will prioritise visible works of low technical complexity but high impact, focusing on accessibility, comfort, and visual appeal. Among the improvements planned are the refurbishment of concourses, upgraded lighting and flooring, renovated canopies and car parks, as well as the addition of cycle spaces and tactile guidance paths.
Renfe has also unveiled a new A Punto logo, which will be displayed at worksites so that passengers can easily identify the areas undergoing improvement.
