Stadler Valencia has secured a contract with the Turkish state-owned operator TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. to design, manufacture, and deliver 35 EURO4001 diesel-electric locomotives.
The agreement also covers spare parts, consumables, special tools, testing equipment, and three years of maintenance and repair services.
The Co’Co’-configured EURO4001s will be built at Stadler’s Valencia plant and deployed for heavy freight duties on non-electrified lines with steep gradients.
They meet Euro V emission standards, cutting particulate emissions by more than 90% and reducing nitrogen oxides and hydrocarbons by over 50% compared with the current fleet. The EURO4001 is an evolution of the successful EURO4000, featuring a cleaner four-stroke diesel engine.
Stadler will work alongside AYKAL Group A.Ş., CERTIFER Türkiye, and its own subsidiary Stadler Service Türkiye to ensure timely integration and delivery.
With these new locomotives, Türkiye strengthens its position as a key logistics hub between Europe and Asia, modernising its locomotive fleet in pursuit of an estimated 400,000 containers to be transported by 2030.
