CAF will supply ten new regional Régiolis units to SNCF Voyageurs for Nouvelle-Aquitaine under a deal valued at around €80 million. The contract, unveiled today, further strengthens cooperation between CAF and Alstom, who remain jointly responsible for the trains’ design, assembly and onboard systems.

Known as Coradia Polyvalent under Alstom’s branding and Régiolis on SNCF’s network, this family of regional trains was originally developed by Alstom. Following its acquisition of Bombardier Transportation, Alstom was required to divest this platform and its dedicated Reichshoffen facility — now operated by CAF since its acquisition of these assets.

The new bi-mode units, capable of operating on both electric and diesel power, will seat up to 208 passengers and be assembled at CAF’s Reichshoffen plant. They promise enhanced passenger comfort thanks to features such as large panoramic windows, LED interior lighting, power sockets and ergonomically designed seats.

Once delivered, the Régiolis fleet serving Nouvelle-Aquitaine will total 64 units. Since purchasing the Reichshoffen site from Alstom in 2021, CAF has landed contracts amounting to nearly 50 Régiolis trains.

The French market has become a strategic pillar for CAF, which is currently also delivering rolling stock for Intercités services, the Paris RER B line, and trams for Montpellier, Marseille, Tours and Grenoble.
