EuroMaint, the subsidiary of CAF Group specialising in railway maintenance services across the Nordic region, has signed new long-term contracts in Sweden and Norway with a combined estimated value of €300 million.
In Sweden, the company will maintain VR Sverige’s fleet of 99 X61 regional multiple units operated under the Pågatågen brand for nine years from December 2027, under an agreement reached with VR Sverige. The operator, a subsidiary of Finnish state railway VR, won the tender issued by the Skåne public transport authority to run Pågatågen regional rail services. Maintenance operations will be concentrated primarily at the Raus depot in Helsingborg.
EuroMaint has also renewed its multi-year maintenance contract with freight operator Green Cargo for its Rc/Rd locomotive fleet — the largest active fleet of its type in Sweden — including the supply of key components through the company’s national depot network.
In Norway, infrastructure manager Bane NOR has awarded EuroMaint a contract of at least four years for the maintenance of on-track plant and infrastructure maintenance vehicles.
With these awards, EuroMaint — which employs more than 1,000 staff — further consolidates its leading position in the Scandinavian market, where CAF is expanding its footprint through rolling stock supply and modernisation projects in Sweden, Norway and Finland.
