The comprehensive remodelling of Valladolid-Campo Grande station has entered a new phase with the execution of the first reinforced concrete diaphragm walls that will define the future underground car park. The Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Óscar Puente, attended the ceremonial groundbreaking, symbolised by the placement of a time capsule containing representative items.
The parking facility, providing 605 spaces across four levels and 29,275 m², is one of the scheme’s cornerstone elements. Its structure will require more than 19,500 m² of diaphragm walls reaching depths of up to 31 metres, with an investment of €61.3 million. Enabling works have included demolitions, utility diversions and the removal of affected track sections.
The overall programme, led by Adif Alta Velocidad, exceeds €260 million and will transform the station into a higher-capacity rail hub integrated with the urban fabric. The layout will double the track and platform capacity, with seven high-speed tracks and five conventional lines, to accommodate a projected demand of five million passengers by 2050.
In addition, a new station building will be constructed فوق the प्लेटफॉर्मs, an accessible footbridge will be provided, and the surrounding area will be upgraded with a new सार्वजनिक square. The historic building will be refurbished and adapted for renewed railway uses.
