Teltronic has commissioned the TETRA communications network for the Buenavista–Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) suburban railway, which entered revenue service on 27 April. Already responsible for the Buenavista–Cuautitlán corridor, the company has now extended coverage along the Lechería–AIFA branch.
The deployment included the installation of base stations to ensure continuous train-to-ground communications across the 28 km alignment. In addition, ten new trainsets have been fitted with RTP-800 onboard radios, while handheld and fixed terminals have been supplied for operations and security staff.
The new branch, forming part of the wider México–Pachuca rail project, features eight stations and runs through Tultitlán, Tultepec, Nextlalpan and Zumpango. Daily ridership is forecast at up to 80,000 passengers, with improved journey times and enhanced airport connectivity.
This strategically significant infrastructure, with planned extension towards Pachuca, is operated by the Mexican government, which has assumed responsibility for rail service management.
