The French National Railway Company (SNCF) on Tuesday confirmed the appointment of Laurent Trevisani as interim president and CEO, following the departure of Jean-Pierre Farandou, who has been appointed minister of Labour and Solidarity in the government of the new prime minister, Sébastian Lecornu.

Trevisani takes up his duties immediately and will remain in office until the final appointment of Jean Castex as President and CEO of the public company.

Castex, the current head of RATP, was nominated last month by President Emmanuel Macron and his appointment is pending ratification by the parliamentary commission that brings together the National Assembly and the Senate.

Trevisani has been with SNCF since 1996 and has held various positions of responsibility in the areas of finance, strategy and development. Since 2019, he has served as the group’s deputy chief financial officer.

Farandou, for his part, had been at the helm of SNCF since November 2019 after a long career that began in 1981, with positions at Keolis, Thalys and other subsidiaries. He remained in the post during the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, before his definitive departure.
