Alstom has acquired an დაახლოებით 8-hectare plot in Newark, Delaware, where it will develop a depot dedicated to maintaining Amtrak’s NextGen Acela high-speed trainsets, under the Technical Support and Spares Supply Agreement (TSSSA) between the two parties. Total investment exceeds $55 million.
The location has been strategically selected, offering direct access to the Northeast Corridor main line, streamlining train movements to and from the facility. The depot will accommodate two trainsets simultaneously, with an अतिरिक्त external track for stabling.
Entry into service is scheduled for summer 2028. The facility is expected to create around 100 jobs: 50 will be transferred from the existing parts distribution centre in nearby New Castle—currently supporting first-generation Acela units—while a further 50 roles will be newly created to support the expanded contract scope.
Alstom is manufacturing the NextGen Acela fleet, based on its Avelia Liberty platform, at its Hornell, New York plant, and remains a leading supplier of rolling stock and rail services across North America.
