The infrastructure manager, Adif, has awarded Renfe Viajeros a contract to carry out railway infrastructure testing using Iberian-gauge, metre-gauge, variable-gauge and diesel traction rolling stock. The award value stands at €4,274,200 excluding VAT.

The contract has an initial duration of 24 months and includes a possible 12-month extension. The estimated contract value, including the envisaged options, was €6,411,300 excluding tax.

The works will cover any location in Spain and will enable Adif to have rolling stock available to verify the conditions and performance of its railway infrastructure on lines of different gauges. The tender was conducted via an open procedure and evaluated bids on the basis of price — weighted at 50% — and various technical and quality criteria.

Renfe Viajeros was the only company to submit a bid. Adif and the operator formalised the contract on 2 September 2026, according to the award notice published in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Companies: Adif and Renfe Viajeros.
