With the new service timetable coming into effect on 14 December, Ouigo Spain will launch a new direct service linking Barcelona and Sevilla, calling at Zaragoza, Madrid, and Córdoba. This marks a key development 11 months after their debut on the Madrid-Andalucía corridor.

Southbound, the service will initially run as a new train from Barcelona Sants departing at 07:35, arriving Madrid at 10:38. This unit then merges with an existing Madrid-Sevilla train departing Atocha at 11:10 and reaching Sevilla Santa Justa at 13:51. The total journey time will be 6 hours and 16 minutes, marginally longer than rival services.

Northbound is a standalone run from Sevilla back to Barcelona, departing Santa Justa at 17:02, arriving Atocha at 19:42 where it will layover briefly before continuing to Sants, terminating at 23:03.

Tickets went on sale on 23 October, starting at £16 (19€) with the most common minimum fare until May set at 29€. Currently, sales are available only through 31 May.

This formation emulates the direct route Iryo inaugurated in December 2023, amalgamating the Barcelona-Madrid and Madrid-Sevilla legs. Beyond offering a no-change connection, merging the two legs reduces the operational complexity of using Atocha as the terminus for two trains each way, cutting infrastructure access charges.

Ouigo’s new service complements existing operators: Renfe runs four trains per direction daily between the cities (plus the Alvia Torre del Oro), and Iryo operates two.

This launch strategically leverages operational efficiencies and network capacity while maintaining competitive journey times on this key transversal high-speed corridor.
