The new multimodal station in Santiago de Compostela is in service

.

The new Santiago de Compostela-Daniel Castelao station came into service yesterday after an investment of 53 million euros.

The modern passenger building, which triples the surface area of the previous hall to 1,100 m², rises above the tracks and totals almost 5,300 m² distributed over five levels. The design integrates the new construction into the railway and urban environment.

The station, conceived as a multimodal space, connects rail and bus services and is complemented by a plaza exceeding 1,550 m² and a car park with over 900 parking spaces.

Among its main novelties are improvements in accessibility, complete adaptation to high-speed services, and a commitment to sustainability through the installation of photovoltaic panels.

The new name of the station pays tribute to Daniel Castelao, a renowned figure in Galician political and intellectual life.

With these actions, the station is positioned as the epicentre of the railway connections along the Atlantic Axis and at the centre of the peninsula, transforming the mobility of the Galician capital. It also contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
