Alstom has delivered the first of 29 Innovia APM R trains to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport as part of an $87 million project, the company’s largest APM (automated people mover) replacement contract.

This new fleet aims to improve the reliability of the Plane Train system and support its expansion in response to passenger growth at the world’s busiest airport, which surpassed 108 million travellers by 2024.

The new trains, manufactured in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, feature energy efficiency, increased speed, and lightweight aluminium construction. They offer high standards of safety and sustainability. Each train can carry up to 900 passengers.

This delivery brings the airport’s total number of Innovia vehicles to 63, the rest being the APM 100 series that Bombardier manufactured.
