Spanish rolling stock manufacturer CAF announces the signing of two new rail maintenance contracts in the United Kingdom and Colombia, jointly valued at close to 400 million euros.
These agreements reinforce CAF’s commitment to growth in its services business. The company currently manages more than 150 contracts in more than 20 countries and has nearly 4,000 employees.
In the United Kingdom, CAF renewed its collaboration with Northern Trains Limited and Eversholt Rail Limited for a period of 10 years to maintain a fleet of 101 Civity trains of the 195 and 331 series, manufactured by the company from Guipuzcoa between 2017 and 2022.
The agreement includes comprehensive technical support, including corrective maintenance, spare parts supply, and major overhauls of the main equipment.
On the other hand, in Colombia, CAF closed a service contract with Metro de Medellín for the long-cycle maintenance of 38 EMU’s supplied by CAF from 2009 to 2017 .
The agreement’s scope includes the general overhaul of 25 trains and the intermediate overhaul of another 13. This award is in addition to recent contracts with the Colombian operator, such as manufacturing 13 new trains and renewing control systems for 80 trainsets.
