Metrovalencia broke an all-time record number of passengers in 2024 despite floodings

.

Metrovalencia registered an all-time record of 91.1 million passengers in 2024, despite the severe October floodings that reduced journeys and forced the suspension of the service for more than a month.

With almost 700,000 additional trips, the increase over 2023 was 0.77%; less than one percentage point enough to break a record for journeys on the network.

Line 3, which connects Rafelbunyol with the airport, was the most used with 17.1 million journeys. Regarding the stations with the highest demand, Xàtiva led the ranking with 6.1 million users. March was the busiest month, with 10.5 million passengers, coinciding with the Fallas festival. March 16 has the daily usage record with 589,244 journeys.

To alleviate the interruption of service following the effects of the floods, the Generalitat set up 25 bus lines that carried an additional 3.5 million passengers.

The Generalitat claims that this success demonstrates the resilience of Valencian public transport in the face of climatic adversities and reaffirms its crucial role in urban mobility. TRAM d’Alacant also broke a passenger record in 2024.
