Île-de-France Mobilités has awarded CAF a contract worth more than €150 million for the supply of 15 tram-trains to extend line T13. The line currently runs between Saint-Germain-en-Laye and Saint-Cyr-l’École via Versailles, and is being extended towards Achères.
The new vehicles will help cut journey times, deliver a 10-minute peak-hour frequency, and improve interchange with RER A, RER E and Transilien line L.
This contract marks the arrival of CAF’s Urbos platform on the Paris tram network and is the first order placed with the Spanish manufacturer by Île-de-France Mobilités.
The new units will comprise seven articulated modules on five bogies, with an overall length of 42 metres and a width of 2.65 metres. They will provide 86 seats and standing room for 170 passengers. Low-floor access will cover 75% of each train to facilitate boarding for passengers with reduced mobility. Onboard features will include air conditioning and dynamic information screens at doors and on platforms.
The rolling stock will be manufactured at CAF’s plant in Bagnères-de-Bigorre (Hautes-Pyrénées). The order strengthens CAF’s footprint in France, where Urbos trams are already in service in Nantes, Besançon, Saint-Étienne, Montpellier, Marseille, Grenoble and Tours, in addition to line T13 in the Paris region.
