From 15 April 2026, Swiss Federal Railways (SBB-CFF-FFS) and the German operator RDC Deutschland will introduce a new EuroNight train connecting Basel with Copenhagen and Malmö three times a week.

Tickets will go on sale on 4 November 2025 via the operator’s app, website, and ticket offices.

The train will offer around 350 seats across sleeping cars, couchettes, and seated coaches, including an accessible compartment for passengers with reduced mobility. Between Basel and Padborg (Denmark), it will also feature a dining car.

Over its 1,400‑kilometre route through Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden, the train will call at key stations such as Freiburg im Breisgau, Karlsruhe, Mannheim, Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Kolding.

The new night service will receive financial backing from the Swiss Confederation, which plans to allocate around 47 million Swiss francs by 2030 under the CO₂ Act. Without this support, the service—currently operating at a loss—might not go ahead. Should it be withdrawn, passengers who have purchased tickets will receive a full refund.
