The Governing Council of the Community of Madrid has known last week the companies awarded the contract for the maintenance of the Madrid metro tracks for the next 4 years.
The contract will have a duration of four years and will cover the comprehensive maintenance of the track superstructure and drainage systems of the almost 300 kilometres of the network.
On this occasion, Metro de Madrid will spend 53.6 million euros, 45.38% more than in the previous contract, in force since 2021.
Like the previous contract, this one has been divided into three lots per home base. Each lot has been awarded to the same contractors:
- Lot 1: base of operations in Sacedal: UTE TECSA EMPRESA CONSTRUCTORA, S.A. – VIAS Y CONSTRUCCIONES, S.A., for 18.12 million euros (including taxes).
- Lot 2: operations base in Canillejas: COMSA, for 18.09 million euros.
- Lot 3: base of operations at Cuatro Vientos: Contracts and Sales, for 17.4 million euros.
The work will begin in the coming months, as a continuation of the work already underway, and will be carried out mainly at night to avoid inconvenience to users and to avoid disrupting the normal service.
This work is essential to guarantee traffic safety levels and increase the durability of the infrastructures, according to the regional administration.
The planning includes actions in tunnels, stations, auxiliary installations and large structures. The division of the contract by operational bases allows optimising its execution, as each contractor centralises its operations in a single location.
