The Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has formalized the award of the feasibility study to integrate the Torralba-Soria-Castejón corridor into the high-speed network. The Antea-Teirlog joint venture will develop this analysis for 520,502.25 Euro (VAT included), with a completion period of 18 months.
The study will evaluate two main axes: the reopening of the Soria-Castejón railway line and the connection of the Torralba-Soria line with the Madrid-Barcelona high-speed line from Torralba.

Adding the travel time between Madrid and Calatayud (next station after the possible future fork) and between Torralba and Soria, the journey between the capital and Soria could be reduced to approximately 2 h 30 min.

Furthermore, the improvement of this section could increase the demand for the Soria-Castejón section, whose reopening is under study.
This integrated approach will analyse synergies between the two sections, considering that improvements in one could boost demand in the other. For each sub-section, independently implementable infrastructure alternatives will be considered.
The ultimate aim of this initiative is to incorporate the province of Soria into the high-speed network, improving its connectivity and promoting the use of the train.
