Gotha orders 4 TRAMLINK trams from Stadler to modernise its fleet

.

The German city of Gotha has awarded Stadler the supply of four trams on the TRAMLINK platform, developed in Valencia, with the option to purchase up to six additional units. The agreement also includes comprehensive maintenance services.

The initial order is for four vehicles, and the fleet could possibly be expanded with two additional options: one for four and one for two units, respectively.

The new trams, 32.5 metres long and with five modules, are 100% low-floor and can carry up to 180 passengers, 50 of whom can be seated. They stand out for their universal accessibility, wheelchair areas, intercom systems, and emergency buttons in barrier-free areas.

K.-H. Koch, managing director of Thüringer Waldbahn und Straßenbahn Gotha GmbH, emphasises that investing in new rolling stock improves comfort and accessibility and reduces maintenance costs.

Today, the Thuringian town has an ageing fleet of vehicles, the oldest of which are three Duewag GT8NF trams built between 1962 and 1964.

The trams are scheduled for delivery in mid-2027, and their entry into regular service, following approval by the technical authorities, is expected in the summer of 2028.
