Deutsche Bahn (DB) has completed the sale of its logistics subsidiary, DB Schenker, to the Danish group DSV for 14.3 billion euros. This is the largest corporate transaction in the company’s and the European logistics sector’s history.
The transaction, completed on 30 April, will allow DB to focus on its core rail business and use the entire proceeds from the sale to substantially reduce its debt. Following the acquisition, the logistics company retains the Schenker name.
The sale process, which started in December 2023, was open and competitive. DSV was selected as DB Schenker’s most advantageous offer.
After receiving EU and US regulatory approvals, the integration of Schenker makes DSV one of the world’s largest logistics operators, with around 160,000 employees in more than 90 countries and combined revenues of more than EUR 41 billion.
DSV has announced an investment of €1 billion in Germany in the coming years and expects the acquisition to drive the group’s sustainable growth and international expansion.
