Stadler has delivered the first of seven metre-gauge trains in Martigny that will renew the historic Mont-Blanc Express line, jointly operated by Transports de Martigny et Régions (TMR) and the French SNCF.

These modern trains, manufactured in Bussnang (Switzerland), will start carrying passengers from mid-2026 on the line from Martigny (Switzerland) to St-Gervais-les-Bains (France) via the Alps.

The new trains, from the Beh 4/8 series, have a modular design that allows capacity to be increased in high-demand seasons.

They are 100% accessible and have panoramic windows that allow you to enjoy the views of the alpine landscape. Like their predecessors, they can travel both on cogwheel and adhesion sections.

It incorporates state-of-the-art traction systems, with regenerative braking for more efficient energy use.

The acquisition of this fleet involved an investment of 76 million Swiss francs and is supported by Swiss and French authorities. The Mont-Blanc Express, which has been in service for more than a century, thus reinforces its commitment to comfort, sustainability and cross-border cooperation in the heart of the Alps.
