The Recuperem València free travel card has exceeded 34 million journeys since entering service in February 2025, according to the Valencian regional government. The pass is provided at no cost to safeguard mobility for residents of the municipalities worst affected by the DANA floods of 29 October 2024.
The pass allows free travel on Metrovalencia, the Cercanías commuter rail network, EMT, Metrobús and regional bus services. To date, the regional administration has distributed nearly 250,000 cards among residents of the municipalities covered by the programme. This represents an average of 136 journeys per person.
In April, the Generalitat introduced the automatic renewal of the passes, extending free travel throughout 2026. In general, the process is completed by validating the card, with no further application required.
Applications for new cards remain open. Eligibility requirements vary according to the level of damage recorded in each municipality’s vehicle fleet. Information on the conditions, required documentation and application process is available through the Generalitat’s electronic office.
