A 39-year-old worker died in the early hours of Thursday following a fatal workplace accident in the tunnel of Madrid Cercanías Line C-5, between Laguna and Embajadores stations. According to the Madrid Community 112 emergency service, the operator was struck by the bucket of a backhoe while performing track maintenance work.
Upon arrival, SUMMA 112 medical personnel found the worker in cardiorrespiratory arrest with severe thoracic trauma. After approximately 40 minutes of resuscitation efforts, they could only confirm the death.
The emergency response also involved Madrid City Council Firefighters and the Municipal Police, which has opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident. The deceased worker belonged to an external contracting company. The incident was reported at approximately 00:55 hours.
