The French rolling stock giant Alstom has appointed Martin Sion as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 April 2026. Sion replaces Henri Poupart-Lafarge, who steps down after ten years at the helm of the company.
Alstom highlights that under Poupart-Lafarge’s leadership, which began in 2016, the firm consolidated its position as a global leader in the railway industry. Its revenues tripled from around €6 billion to €18.5 billion, while the successful integration of Bombardier Transportation strengthened its scale and international competitiveness.
The Chairman of the Board, Philippe Petitcolin, praised the outgoing executive’s “long-term vision and commitment” and welcomed Sion, who previously headed ArianeGroup and had been appointed last October. “We are confident that Martin will enhance Alstom’s execution capabilities and steer the company towards its new ambitions,” he stated.
For his part, Sion said he was “honoured” to take on the position and emphasised his intention to drive transport decarbonisation and foster innovative mobility solutions on a global scale.
