The Spanish Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has opened a public information period for an informative study aimed at improving the capacity and intermodality of Martorell station in Barcelona.
As part of the 2020–2030 Rodalies de Catalunya Plan, this project aims to enhance connectivity with the nearby FGC station and expand train parking capacity, thereby promoting seamless communication between the two rail networks.
The project includes the construction of two new platforms and four additional tracks, as well as the restructuring of the dead-end tracks to accommodate trains of up to 200 metres in length. Additionally, current restrictions that limit operability, particularly for Mediterranean Corridor services, will be eliminated by establishing a new branch line for trains from Barcelona.

Regarding intermodality, a new building is planned adjacent to the FGC building, which will eliminate the current disconnection between the station and the public transport services located on Monserrat Street.
