Yesterday, 9 June, Renfe launched its renewed offer of long-distance services on the Galicia-Castilla y León-Madrid and Extremadura-Madrid corridors, achieving record passenger figures.
The corridor between Galicia and Madrid increased by 42% compared to the same day in 2024, while the Extremadura-Madrid corridor increased by 20%.
In Extremadura, a third Alvia Madrid-Badajoz has been added. Thanks to the new bypass, it runs without stopping in Mérida. This shortcut has reduced the journey time between Cáceres and Badajoz by 46 minutes.

Moreover, this new service is the only long-distance train that stops in Plasencia, with its corresponding reversal.
In Galicia, all Alvia trains have been replaced by AVE and Avlo, with the exception of Lugo. This has led to an increase in supply and a reorganisation of timetables.
Despite the protests for delaying the first train to stop in Sanabria(with accusations of prevarication and abandonment in between), Sanabria station was used yesterday by 73 people (32 boardings and 28 alightings), 22% more than the previous Monday and 115% more compared to the same day in 2024.
