The private operator Ostdeutsche Eisenbahn GmbH (ODEG) and Stadler have presented the new generation of environmentally friendly trains that will shape the future of regional transport in western Mecklenburg.
In a symbolic event celebrated with a memorable demonstration trip between Schwerin and Parchim, the manufacturer showcased its NAH.SH-owned FLIRT Akku battery train, which will be the star of the ODEG fleet from December 2027.
The “Westmecklenburg II” contract, awarded to ODEG in December 2024, provides for the addition of 14 FLIRT Akku units, battery-powered multiple trainsets designed for emission-free operation on non-electrified lines. They are destined for lines RB13, RB14 and, seasonally, RB15 and RB19.
