The Austrian public operator ÖBB and Stadler presented the new double-decker train from the KISS family in Vienna yesterday, designed for the Railjet service. It is the first self-propelled material that the company has purchased for this type of train.
In total, the company has purchased 14 trains that will gradually start operating by the end of 2026 on the line between Vienna and Salzburg. They reach 200 km/h and offer 20% more seats than the current trains. In addition to these trains, 17 units have been purchased from DB as second-hand trains.
Those attending the presentation ceremony were able to enter the train for the first time, which stands out for its accessibility and comfort. It features 486 seats per unit, wide doors, and level access areas to facilitate the mobility of people with disabilities, bulky luggage, bicycles, or prams.
