Siemens Mobility has started producing three Mireo Plus H hydrogen trains. These trains will begin operating on the Südostbayernbahn network by the end of 2026, marking a milestone in sustainable rail mobility in Bavaria.
These two-car trains will replace the existing diesel units on the non-electrified Mühldorf-Burghausen line, significantly reducing CO2 emissions, other pollutant gases, and noise.
The new trains will offer nine bicycle spaces, optimised windows to allow mobile phone coverage and will be 100% accessible thanks to their low-floor design.

They incorporate the ETCS system for maximum safety and efficiency. In addition, Siemens Mobility will supply the hydrogen supply system, which will be produced locally in an electrolysis plant powered 100% by green energy.
With a range of up to 1,200 km and fast recharging in 15 minutes, the Mireo Plus H demonstrates the viability of hydrogen as an alternative to diesel, contributing to the decarbonisation of rail transport and the transition to climate neutrality.
