Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) will begin testing the electrification of the Torrent-Castelló section of Metrovalencia on 28 May, as part of the recovery process following the severe floods suffered last October.
This marks the beginning of the last primary phase in the work to restore rail traffic on the nearly 50 kilometres of the affected network, which includes municipalities such as Paiporta, Picanya, Alginet and Alberic.
The tests, which will be carried out at night to prevent interference with the daytime installation and adjustment work, will later be extended to the València Sud-Torrent section.
FGV recalls the danger of contact with the catenary, which operates at 1,500 volts, and insists on extreme caution.
The works, which involved an investment of 11.6 million euros, include the rehabilitation of the track, electrification, drainage, electrical, and telecommunications conduits, as well as the replacement of damaged fences and enclosures.
After these actions are completed, train service between Paiporta and Castelló is expected to resume on 21 June, bringing the Metrovalencia service back to normal.
