German public transport operator Deutsche Bahn (DB) has introduced the new “44-Stunden-Ticket Young”, a season ticket for young people aged 26 years or younger, which allows unlimited travel on ICE and Intercity trains throughout Germany on weekends in July.
The ticket, which costs 44 euros, is less than the cost of a single journey between Berlin and Hamburg, and is valid for 44 hours. It can be used from 6:00 p.m. on Friday until 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
According to Stefanie Berk, Head of Marketing and Sales at DB Fernverkehr, “Young people prefer to travel by train in an environmentally friendly way and often travel long distances. That’s why we’ve created this particularly economical offer, allowing them to enjoy the summer with flexibility and spontaneity“.
Unlike other publicly funded discounts, such as the Deutschandticket, this offer is the operator’s initiative.
The 44-Stunden-Ticket Young can be purchased from June 30 to July 27 via the DB Navigator app and on the official website, bahn.de.
The ticket is valid for all weekends in July, but only for travelling in second class.
