The Board of Directors of the French group Alstom has appointed engineer Martin Sion as its new CEO. The appointment will take effect on 1 April 2026, when the current term of office expires.
The decision, taken at the proposal of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, comes after an extensive search process.
Sion will replace Henri Poupart-Lafarge, who in May announced his intention not to seek another term as CEO, a position he has held since February 2016. Philippe Petitcolin, chairman of Alstom’s board, stressed that the new executive “has the necessary experience to lead Alstom” and underlined that “the transition will be smooth”, as Poupart-Lafarge will remain in his position until April.

The board also approved the elements of Sion’s remuneration, which are available on the company’s website.
An engineer graduated from the École Centrale de Paris, Martin Sion has had an extensive career in the aerospace industry, with responsibilities at SEP, Snecma, Aircelle and Safran. He has been CEO of ArianeGroup since 2023.
In his new role, Sion will drive sustainability, lead technological innovation and manage Alstom’s international expansion in an increasingly competitive and demanding environment.
