Adif’s board of directors has approved a reorganisation that completes the renewal of its management committee initiated in January by chairman Pedro Marco.

The move includes the recent promotion of Salvador Almenar, until now Director of Communication, as Director of the President’s Office and the redefinition of the Directorate General for Business and Customers, which is now called the Directorate General for Passengers and Business Development.

According to ElEconomista.es, this modification seeks to reinforce the orientation of the activity towards the traveller, placing people at the centre of decision making.

The new department will integrate the directorates of stations, commercial operation, logistics services and heritage, as well as the Haramain project, the high-speed train between Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.

The change follows the dismissal of Juan Pablo Villanueva, the previous head of the area, who was linked in some documents to the Koldo case. Adif will open a public process to select the new director general, following the procedure applied in previous appointments.

With this reorganisation, the institution aims to improve operational efficiency, internal coordination and user information, thus completing its structural modernisation process.
