Adif and the state-owned railway company China Railway have signed today in Beijing the renewal of their collaboration protocol. This strategic agreement strengthens the exchange of knowledge and experience in key areas such as planning, maintenance, management, technological development, and railway safety.
The agreement, which follows on from the one signed in 2018, provides for training activities, study trips and technical consultancies, with the aim of strengthening bilateral cooperation.
Recently, this collaboration has resulted in numerous visits by China Rail delegations to Spain, focusing on the efficient management of stations, the optimisation of maintenance costs, and the development of technologies for changing track gauge.
The relationship between Adif and Chinese railway organisations has intensified, highlighting the visit in May 2024 of a Chinese governmental delegation to Atocha station and meetings with representatives of the province of Zhejiang and Jiangsu Railway Group. In addition, Adif participated in the tenth anniversary of the first Yiwu-Madrid train, known as the Silk Road Train.
Adif maintains an outstanding international projection, acting as a prescriber of the Spanish railway sector, recognised for its competitiveness and dynamism. With more than 4,000 km, the Spanish high-speed network is the second most extensive in the world, only surpassed by China, which leads the sector with 48,000 km of high-speed lines and a total network of 162,000 km.
