Asturian company Uromac Systems has secured a new contract to supply auxiliary rolling stock for Metro de Madrid. The vehicles will be allocated to both infrastructure and overhead line maintenance.

The tender, valued at 33.55 million euros, was awarded on 10 September and formalised on 3 October. However, the contract was only published today on the public procurement portal and in the Official Journal of the European Union.

Of the 24 vehicles commissioned, 16 are battery-electric bimodal trolleys—capable of operating on non-electrified or de-energised tracks—while the remaining 8 are auxiliary wagons.

Ten of the trolleys and four wagons will be used for overhead line maintenance. For infrastructure works, Uromac will deliver four trolleys fitted with load platforms and hoists, two trolleys equipped with cranes, and four wagons, one of them with a rail-carrier system.

In addition to this Metro de Madrid deal, which adds to the company’s existing fleet in service with the operator, Uromac has also received an order from TMB to produce two similar trolleys.
