CAF has landed a new contract in France, valued at around €250 million, to supply 22 Régiolis electric regional trains to SNCF Voyageurs. The units will operate in Région Sud (Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur).

The order, which adds to the 17 trains already in service in the area, reinforces the French operator’s confidence in the Coradia Polyvalent platform. This train was originally developed by Alstom as part of its Coradia regional family but was acquired by CAF along with the Reichshoffen plant during the purchase of Bombardier Transportation.

The new rolling stock will replace existing units on the Marseille–Aubagne–Toulon–Hyères and Marseille–Toulon–Les Arcs Draguignan routes, enhancing both service quality and environmental performance. CAF will assemble the trains at its Reichshoffen facility in Alsace, while Alstom will supply various onboard systems.

Each trainset will comprise six cars and accommodate up to 310 passengers. The interiors will provide enhanced comfort and brightness, featuring large panoramic windows, indirect LED lighting, and ergonomic seats fitted with power sockets and personal reading lights.

In addition, the trains will include accessible areas for passengers with reduced mobility and will fully comply with the stringent 2023 European TSI standards covering safety, emissions, and materials.
