Renfe has registered record figures for the first half of 2025, with a total of 277.4 million passengers, representing a 3% increase compared to the same period in 2024. This figure represents the highest passenger volume in the company’s six-month history.
In open-access trains (AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed and Intercity), Renfe transported 17.9 million passengers, 10.9% more than the previous year. Notably, the daily record was reached on 20 June, when more than 135,600 people utilised these services. Improved frequencies have driven this growth, the entry into service of new 106 series trains (Talgo Avril), and the optimisation of journey times.
In PSO services (Cercanías, Media Distancia, Ancho Métrico, and Avant), more than 259.5 million passengers were registered, representing a 2.8% increase. Of these, 235.9 million corresponded to Cercanías, which grew by 3.91%.
