The CGT and Alferro unions, the main representatives within the operator Iryo, have commenced the first strike by Spain’s only privately capitalised high-speed train operator. The strikes cover seven days, from 25 to 28 November and 5 to 8 December.
The call to strike comes from staff in Crew, Maintenance, CEX, Control Room and Offices. They denounce the halt in negotiations of the Collective Agreement covering all professional categories within the company, with a pay raise as the primary demand.
On a social media account they have created, they state that wages have been frozen since 2022, when the company began operations.
The Ministry of Transport has set minimum services at 73%, which, according to the operator, are being met normally with a resized crew. Affected passengers by 27% of the cancelled trains have been offered rebooking on other services or ticket cancellation at no cost. You can view the affected trains on our Trainvelling website.
Meanwhile, the company expresses its willingness for dialogue and negotiation with the unions and states it has made four financial proposals with improvements in base salary and variable pay. They offer an initial one-year collective agreement as a transitional measure, while working on a longer-term contract.
